July 2019 Update

Hello, friends!

Let me start by saying thank you to each of you who supports our work through Patreon. You have no idea how personally encouraging it is that you care about the work we do enough to stand with us. I am so grateful for each and every one of you!

As you might remember, The Hope Center’s Sunday Market program was on hiatus in the month of May due to lack of funding. I’m happy to report that we held three markets (two no cost Sunday Neighborhood Markets and one no cost Bakery Market) in June serving more than 100 families. If you’d like to help us provide food to some families in need through this no cost market where they can shop for meats, fresh produce, bread, dairy, pantry items, and paper products in atmosphere of love and respect, please click here.

I hope you are enjoying your exclusive early access to each episode of The Messy Spirituality Podcast before they are released to the public at large. Our audience continues to grow. The podcast recently hit the 2500 downloads milestone and we get great feedback every week from listeners. Episode 06 (“A Faith Worth Keeping with Brad Jersak”) recently hit 500 downloads. We’ll be recording another episode with Brad this month. I’m so grateful for everyone listening and engaging in this conversation with us.

The book is coming along. My publisher of choice continues to remind me that he is eager to see the manuscript once I’m finally done with it and seems to want to publish it. I was very encouraged when I recently shared a small portion of the book on social media and got an incredible response from many others on a similar faith journey. By the time I send out our next update (August 1st) the manuscript should be in the hands of the publisher. Please pray that my many insecurities will not be a barrier to the kind of transparency required by this book. I really don’t want to hold anything back, but that is not my default setting.

I received an invitation recently to speak at a couple of churches and a prison in Oregon. The prison ministry (run by my friend, Mike) uses the work of Brennan Manning (who I love) to remind the inmates of their true worth in God’s eyes. I love the idea of being a part of that in some small way. That is an expensive trip across the country from Alabama but it’s one Brandi and I would love to embark on. I’ll keep you posted.

My friend Karl Forehand’s new book “Apparent Faith: What Fatherhood Taught Me About The Father’s Heart” released today. It’s a beautiful book that will encourage your heart and even has an endorsement from yours truly on the back cover. To hear more about the book you can listen to my podcast interview with Karl here and order the book here.

The long promised Patreon exclusive video series is happening this month so be on the look out for that in a week or two!

Until next month, my friends-Thanks for all of your support and encouragement. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
